Struct DnsSection

Source
pub struct DnsSection {
    pub provider: Option<String>,
    pub zone_id: Option<String>,
    pub may_create_zones: Option<bool>,
}
Expand description

DNS provider selection, once dns-providers lands a second backend.

Reload: needs a restart. A provider swap changes which credential the process holds open.

Fields§

§provider: Option<String>

Which DnsProvider to construct: loopback, wildcard, route53, or a name a later backend adds.

§zone_id: Option<String>

The zone id the provider writes, when the provider needs one beyond zone.zone itself (Route53’s hosted zone id, for instance).

§may_create_zones: Option<bool>

Whether this deployment may create new zones by writing NS records into the zone above the one it is creating.

Two postures exist. Create needs write access above the zone it delegates, and this is what turns that on. Use handed zones — an operator creates the delegation out of band and hands over an already-hosted zone — needs nothing above it, and is the recommended posture; it is also what None (the default) means, so a deployment gets it without an operator having to opt in. Left unset, a create attempt is refused at the point of decision rather than surfacing later as an access-denied error from the DNS provider itself.
